I’m using this on a trail camping style backpack while camping from my motorcycle – it chops, hammers, and spikes – okay I’m not spiking much but in case of zombie hoards… I’ve used the hatchet blade to slice ropes off tree limbs. It holds an edge that well, and I’ve chopped firewood, etc… The holes are perfect for pulling tent stakes when you need that prying leverage… don’t tell SOG, but I’m using it in the campfire to move logs around, etc, just briefly and never expose the handle to open flames, never let the tomahawk head get hot either… one of few items I would give 6 out of 5 stars!

So far I’ve been very happy with this thing. The edge has held up well. It takes some getting used to as it feels nothing like a traditional hatchet, but once you dial it in it’s great. Ferro rod broke, perhaps operator error or a rough one. Either way, I sent an email, and no question SOG sent me a replacement.
So it’s a great little hawk, works as it should, and as far as I can tell so far it holds up well. David K

out of the box and I’ve used this for clearing low branches in my woods as well as cutting down small trees. It works as a throwing ax but just be careful since it is not full tang (Eventually where the ax head and handle meet might become loose, though I have not had that issue yet.
The only thing that has worn down on this is the included sheath. It has a little belt loop that I would use to keep the ax on my hip, but the loop has frayed to the point where it broke. Other than that it’s a great product. It’s small and lightweight to the point where I keep it strapped to a bug-out bag when I’m not using it.
